St. Mary's City, Md. – We're just two weeks out from the annual Halloween at the ARC event hosted at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center on the campus of St. Mary's College of Maryland.
This year's Halloween extravaganza will be held on Thursday, October 26 from 5:45-7:30 p.m. throughout the Athletics & Recreation Center (ARC). The event is being sponsored by the ARC, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and the Department of Athletics & Recreation.
The various varsity athletic teams will put on all sorts of fun activities such as the Haunted Hallway, face painting, and many more. In addition, there will be the opportunity to trick-or-treat throughout the coaches' offices.
And new this year, a best costume contest! The contestants will be judged and a winner picked during the 10-minute intermission between the second and third set of the volleyball match that same night. The St. Mary's volleyball team hosts Virginia Wesleyan University at 7:00 p.m. in the MPOBARC Arena.
The event is free and open to St. Mary's College faculty and staff and their families as well as members of the St. Mary's County community. However, instead of an admission price, we ask that you please donate a gently-used children's book to the SAAC Children's Book Drive. The books will be donated to local schools in St. Vincent and the Grenadines where Hannah Schroeder '17 is currently teaching English to elementary-aged children with age-inappropriate books.
We hope you'll join us for Halloween at the ARC and then stay for the volleyball match at 7:00 p.m. in the MPOBARC Arena.
