Headlining that class are senior captains James Judlick (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall), Randy Larsen (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown), and Adam Scrivener (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown). The Seahawks are predicted to finish seventh at this year's CAC Championships. With nine weekends to prepare for the CAC Championships in Buena Vista, Va., St. Mary's will start the chase this weekend at the Salisbury Sea Gull Opener. Two years ago at the Sea Gull Opener, the Seahawks finished eighth out of 10 total teams.

What you need to know: Last season, St. Mary's won the Goucher College Cross Country Classic and finished second at the Hood College Open while picking up two other Top 5 finishes during the regular season and coming in sixth at the 2017 CAC Championships. This year's roster boasts experience with the return of 14 letterwinners. Leading the veteran group is sophomore Lindsey Stevenson (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright), who was St. Mary's top performer in the last five meets of the season and set the program record with a 22:57.13 at the Salisbury Don Cathcart Invitational. The Seahawks were voted to place sixth once again at this year's CAC Championships. With nine weekends to prepare for the CAC Championships in Buena Vista, Va., St. Mary's will hit the ground running this weekend at the Salisbury Sea Gull Opener. Two years ago at the Sea Gull Opener, the Seahawks took seventh out of nine total teams.
When: Friday vs. Goucher at 4 p.m. and Sunday vs. Stevenson at 1 p.m.
What you need to know: New this season for the field hockey team is the turf field at the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium Complex! St. Mary's will christen the new field on Friday in its home-opener against Goucher. Last fall, the Seahawks won eight games, the most wins since a 10-win campaign in 2014. Third-year head coach Jessica Lanham welcomes 13 newcomers to the fold this season as St. Mary's looks to build upon the successes of last fall. They will look to come out of the gates strong with the return of its top-two scorers in seniors Courtney Mellon (Mount Airy, Md./Urbana) and Mollie Belson (Columbia, Md./Atholton). Mellon led the squad with seven goals and 16 points while Belson contributed a team-leading five assists and second-best 13 points. Goucher went 5-10 last year and the Seahawks picked up a 2-1 road win when the two teams faced off early last season. Stevenson posted a 3-0 victory over St. Mary's in 2017 and ended up finishing 7-9 for the year.
When: Friday vs. Moravian at 4 p.m. and Saturday vs. Hobart at 1 p.m.
What you need to know: St. Mary's will kick off its 2018 campaign on Friday against Moravian at the Elmer Lord Memorial Classic hosted by Salisbury. Then on Saturday, the Seahawks continue action at the tournament against Hobart. The team graduated the goalie who had the most career shutouts in program history but return their leading point scorer in senior All-American Juwan Kearson (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's) as well as junior All-Region selection Khalid Balogun (Bowie, Md./Bowie), who finished second with four assists. The Seahawks finished the 2017 campaign as the No. 2 seed in the CAC Tournament for just the third time in program history. St. Mary's posted an 11-7 overall record, including a program-best seven league wins (7-2 CAC) plus a 6-3 mark in Seahawk Stadium, for its second straight 10-win season and third in the last four years. The last, and only, time the Seahawks faced off with Moravian was back in 2000 when they won 3-1. The Greyhounds ended up finishing 8-5-4 last year. St. Mary's and Hobart are meeting for the first time. The Statesmen notched an 11-5-4 mark last season after falling in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.

The Yellow Jackets finished the season 9-7-1 last year, and fell in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Quarterfinals. St. Mary's then travels to Westminster, Md., to face McDaniel College on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Green Terror were 12-6-2 last year after falling in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.
