St. Mary’s College Field Hockey Repeats as Academic Team, 15 Named to Academic Squad

GILBERT, Ariz. - The Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Teams and National Academic Squad were both announced over the last several days.

St. Mary's College of Maryland was one of 131 Division III programs that earned the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award. The Division III National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year.

In addition, 15 Seahawks were a part of 1,746 student-athletes from 147 Division III institutions that earned recognition on the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. Mollie Belson, Sophie Carlson, Emma Chandler, Gabrielle Corder, Alyssa Demski, Hannah Dietrich, Kelbey Egerland, Kara Feidelseit, Callie Heim, Rachel Lansbury, Skylar Limpert, Annika McCallum, Courtney Mellon, Brooke Steinhoff, and Jessica Zhang were all selected to the Academic Squad. Feidelseit, Mellon, and Steinhoff earned the honor in all four years of their careers.

The Division III National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year.
