Kansas City, Mo. – Junior Khalid Balogun (Bowie, Md./Bowie) grabbed the second-ever All-America honor for the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer program Thursday night. Balogun, who was one of 49 men's players to be recognized, landed on the second team; picking up the program's second consecutive All-America award after Juwan Kearson '19 became the first-ever All-American for the Seahawk men's soccer program last season.

This year's NCAA Division III All-Americans, along with their families and coaches, will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on January 12, 2019 at the McCormick Place West Building in conjunction with the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Convention in Chicago.

Balogun was one of only two Capital Athletic Conference men's soccer players to earn All-America accolades as University of Mary Washington's senior midfielder Justin Carey garnered first team honors.

The All-America laurels come on the heels of Monday's selection as a USC NCAA Division III All-South Atlantic Region First Team selection. It was the third straight All-South Atlantic Region selection for Balogun. He has moved up a team each season, going from the third team as a first-year to landing on the first team for the first time ever in 2018.

The 2016 CAC Rookie of the Year, Balogun collected his third straight All-CAC First Team award on November 7 after leading the conference in all offensive categories with 12 goals, seven assists, 31 points, and 72 shots. The 6-4 forward notched a career-best five points (two goals, one assist) twice in wins over Randolph-Macon College (Sep. 12) and The Catholic University of America (Oct. 2). Balogun also dished a career-high two assists in a victory over DeSales University on September 22.

The Seahawks finished the 2018 campaign ranked sixth in the South Atlantic region by United Soccer Coaches. St. Mary's clinched the No. 2 seed in the CAC Tournament for the second straight season and fourth time in program history. The Seahawks posted a 12-4-4 (4-2-1 CAC) overall record for their third consecutive 10-win season and fourth in the last five years. St. Mary's dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 decision to top-seeded and No. 12 University of Mary Washington in the CAC championship match.
