Seahawk Men's Cross Country Takes Fifth in Regular-Season Finale at Hood

Frederick, Md. – Junior James Judlick (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) medaled for the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's cross country team Saturday morning, leading the Seahawks to a fifth-place finish at the Hood College Open in their regular-season finale.

The Basics:

  • Place – 5th of 12
  • Location – Frederick, Md. – Utica Park

St. Mary's Top 5 Finishers:

  • Judlick was the first Seahawk to cross the finish line with a time of 28:35.0, which put him 18th overall.
  • Senior captain Scott Zimmerman (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) placed second out of the Seahawk runners with a 25th-place finish in 29:01.1.
  • First-year Yoni Kamis (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) came in 33rd overall in 29:30.6.
  • Senior captain T.J. McPhaul (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and junior Adam Scrivener (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown) rounded out the Top 5 for the Seahawks. McPhaul ran a 29:45.3 for 39th place while Scrivener took 41st in 29:54.4.

Other Top Performers:

  • McDaniel College's Gavin Gibson captured individual honors as he won the race in 26:24.0.
  • Fellow Capital Athletic Conference member, Frostburg State University, claimed the team title, besting Franklin & Marshall College by four points.
  • The Catholic University of America finished third with runners eighth through 10th.

Up Next for the Seahawks:

  • St. Mary's will rest up and train for the next two weeks in preparation for the 2017 Capital Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Championships, which will be hosted by Christopher Newport University. The race will be held Saturday, October 28 at 11:00 a.m.
