Bartholomew Records 100th Career Point in Dominating Victory Over Southern Virginia

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Kate Bartholomew recorded her 100th career point in a dominating victory over Southern Virginia University on Friday (Mar. 29) afternoon. The No. 25 Seahawks defeated the Knights 19-4 to open up Capital Athletic Conference action.

How It Happened

  • The Seahawks controlled all phases of the game throughout the contest. St. Mary's College jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead just six minutes into the game with goals from Lucy Gussio, Bartholomew, and Sydni Thacker (2). Southern Virginia responded with their lone goal of the half two minutes later. Next, the Seahawks strung together an impressive scoring streak, recording eight-straight goals to end the first half. Jodi Credit, Bartholomew (2), Thacker (2), Caitlin Katchmar, Shannon Kirk, and Gussio beat the opposing goalkeeper during the run.

  • Trailing 12-1, the Knights continued to play hard and outscored the Seahawks 3-2 to begin the second half. However, the Seahawks asserted their dominance once again by recording the final five scores of the contest. Annalise Wrobel, Gussio, Susanna Schmidt, and Izzy Klose buried shots into the back of the cage in the scoring burst.

Inside the Box Score

  • Thacker led the Seahawks on the offensive end with seven points off of five goals and two assists. Gussio (4g, 1a) followed with five points, while Ali Collie recorded four points off of four assists. Wrobel and Klose tallied their first scores of the season as they both found the back of the net twice.

  • Mary Kate Fitz-Patrick and Stephanie Heffron had excellent games on the defensive end. Fitz-Patrick scooped up six ground balls, while recording four draw controls and three caused turnovers. Heffron also collected six groudballs, while tallying five draw controls and four caused turnovers. In goal, Emma Brown gathered two saves and Aimee Uibel collected four.
