Fredericksburg, Va. – Senior Sydney Larkin (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) claimed the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honor for the week of October 30. Larkin shares this week's award with Salisbury University goalkeeper Hope Knussman.

Larkin was selected as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career after posting two shutouts in leading St. Mary's College of Maryland to a 2-0 week and a spot in the semifinals of the CAC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.

The 5-8 goalkeeper started the week with eight saves in a 2-0 win over York College of Pennsylvania, helping the Seahawks clinch a playoff berth. She followed that up with two stops in eliminating the University of Mary Washington and advancing St. Mary's to the semifinals for the third straight season.

Following her performance this past week, Larkin is now second all-time at St. Mary's with 24 wins and third in program history with 17 shutouts. She passed Kelsey Wirtz '14, who finished with 23 victories, and Laura Carrier '02 and Wirtz, who both collected 16 shutouts during their careers.

She leads the conference with a 0.865 save percentage while ranking second with a 0.69 goals against average. Larkin is also tied for third in the CAC with five shutouts. Nationally, she ranks 42nd in save percentage and 56th in goals against average.

The Seahawks (6-8-4) will be back in action on Wednesday, November 1 when St. Mary's travels to No. 8 Christopher Newport University (16-0-1), the top seed in this year's CAC Tournament, for a semifinal matchup under lights at 7:30 p.m.
