Stevenson, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's cross country team snagged fifth place as a team at the Shannon Henretty Invitational held at Stevenson University on September 10th. The Seahawks averaged a 30:08-mile time on the 6K course.
The Basics:
- Place – 5th of 10
- Location – Stevenson University
St. Mary's Top Five Finishers:
- Sophomore Halcyon Ruskin (Kensington, Md./Albert Einstein) had a great performance finishing in the Top 10 with an eighth-place finish. Ruskin completed the 6K in 27:32.62.
- First-year Sarah Jeffrey (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) crossed the finish line second for the Seahawks. Jeffrey finished with a time of 30:08.85 while capturing 27th place.
- Sophomore Marisa McCormick (Prince Frederick, Md./Calvert) was the third runner to complete the race for the Seahawks, finishing 28th out of 94 runners. McCormick finished with a time of 30:17.19.
- Shortly behind McCormick was first-year Kaitlyn Simmons (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park), placing 34th with a time of 31:11.47.
- First-year Caitlyn Sarudy (Hereford, Md./Hereford) closed out the Top 5 Seahawk finishers on Saturday. Sarudy had a 37th-place finish with a time of 31:27.11.
Other Top Finishers:
- Kelly Winklbauer of Stevenson snagged the overall first-place title at the Shannon Henretty Invitational with a time of 25:20.84, as Stevenson captured second place for the women.
- Kayla Bias, also of Stevenson, closed out the Top 5 with a time of 27:15.82.
Up Next:
- St. Mary's will be back in action on Saturday, September 17th at Kutztown, Pa. for the Division II/Division III Challenge. The race begins at 10:00 a.m.
