St. Mary's City, Md. – St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swimming dropped a 126-76 non-conference decision to Randolph-Macon College on Friday evening.
Senior captains Grant Burgess (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and Zach Lilley (Myersville, Md./Middletown), sophomores Kieran Broder (Olney, Md./Georgetown Prep) and Lucas Delgado (Bowie, Md./Gonzaga College), and first-year Colin Cassady (Phoenix, Md./Calvert Hall) each collected three silver medals.
Burgess finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:49.23) followed by senior captain Michael Speer (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) in third (1:50.62). Burgess placed second in the 100 butterfly (54.50) while Delgado came in third (56.29). Burgess' last silver medal came in the 500 freestyle (4:57.41) while junior Matt Walchuck (Middletown, Md./Middletown) was close on his heels in third (4:57.47).
Lilley, Broder, Delgado, and Cassady were all members of the second-place 200 medley relay (1:41.21) while the foursome of Cassady, Lilley, junior Andrew Braker (Olney, Md./Sherwood), and Speer swam on the second-place 200 freestyle relay (1:29.57). Lilley added a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke (56.74) while senior Michael Abrams (Garrett Park, Md./Walter Johnson) was third (1:01.96).
Broder notched the team's best finish in the 100 breaststroke with a second-place finish in 1:02.81 while Cassady picked up a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle (22.70) followed by Braker in third (23.13).
Speer led the Seahawks in the 100 freestyle with a second-place finish in 49.01 while Braker was third in 51.58. Walchuck claimed a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:01.54) followed by Broder in third with a time of 2:09.26.
Sophomore Max Madden (Cape St. Clair, Md./Broadneck) was the top finisher for St. Mary's in the 1000 freestyle, taking second in 10:37.57.
St. Mary's will be back in action on Saturday, November 7 as the Seahawks travel to York College of Pennsylvania for a quad meet with No. 38 Ursinus College and Saint Vincent College at 1:00 p.m.
