St. Mary’s College Men’s Swimming Captures Three Events against Mary Washington

ST. MARY'S COLLEGE, Md. – First-year Luke Schwenk (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) won two events as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swim team took on former Capital Athletic Conference foe, University of Mary Washington on Friday night in a non-conference dual meet. St. Mary's College (4-3) suffered a 189-56 setback at the hands of the Mary Washington Eagles (5-2) at the Aquatics Center at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center.
 
How It Happened
  • Schwenk claimed first-place honors in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.77 and touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle in 22.00 followed by junior captain Jack Kennedy (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) in fourth in 23.46 and first-year Sam Meisel (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) in fifth in 27.64.
  • Junior Sebastian Ludwig (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) also earned an individual win for the Seahawks, hitting the wall first in the 1000 freestyle in 10:42.14 by an 18-second margin.
  • Schwenk added a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle, clocking a 48.64, while junior Anri Cifuentes Robinson (Easton, Md./Easton) was sixth in 52.41.
  • In the 200 medley relay, Schwenk, Cifuentes Robinson, sophomore Sam Shenot (Upper Marlboro, Md./Leonardtown), and Kennedy posted a time of 1:41.73 to finish third.
  • Cifuentes Robinson led St. Mary's College in the 100 breaststroke with a third-place finish in 1:05.90 followed by Meisel in fifth in 1:18.67.
  • Shenot was the Seahawk leader in the 200 butterfly as he came in third in 2:13.20 while Ludwig took third in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:40.10.
  • Kennedy picked up a fourth-place finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:21.39 while Meisel placed sixth in 6:25.57.
  • Cifuentes Robinson went fourth in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.05 while Shenot finished fifth in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.24.
  • The foursome of Kennedy, Ludwig, Shenot, and Meisel garnered a fourth-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:43.28.
