Seahawks Men’s Swimming Stymied by Gallaudet

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Junior Anri Cifuentes Robinson (Easton, Md./Easton) and first-year Luke Schwenk (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) each captured four events Saturday afternoon as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swim team got back to Atlantic East Conference action. St. Mary's College (4-4, 2-2 AEC) claimed first-place in 10 of 14 events but dropped a 122-109 decision to Gallaudet University (1-2, 1-1 AEC) in a neutral site dual meet hosted by Cedar Crest College.
 
How It Happened
  • Robinson swam the butterfly stroke on the winning 200 medley relay before taking first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.07. Next, he went first in the 100 freestyle in 53.79 before swimming the second leg on the first-place 200 freestyle relay.
  • Schwenk was also on the first-place 200 medley relay, swimming the breaststroke leg, before touching the wall first in the 200 backstroke in 2:02.32. He then notched a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly in 54.29 before leading off the victorious 200 freestyle relay.
  • Junior captain Jack Kennedy (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) added three wins as Kennedy led off the first-place 200 medley relay and then tallied a win in the 50 freestyle in 23.37. He closed out the meet by swimming the third leg of the winning 200 freestyle relay.
  • Another triple winner was sophomore Sam Shenot (Upper Marlboro, Md./Leonardtown). Shenot captured the 100 backstroke in 1:04.98 and the 200 butterfly in 2:23.49 before anchoring the winning 200 freestyle relay.
  • Junior Sebastian Ludwig (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) was a two-event winner as Ludwig anchored the triumphant 200 medley relay and notched a victory in the 200 breaststroke in 2:30.93.
  • Kennedy added a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 1:54.84 while Ludwig finished third in 1:57.36.
  • Ludwig came in second in the 200 individual medley in 2:12.92 while Shenot collected a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:32.69.
