Seahawks Women’s Swimming Posts Season-Bests at Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Four St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swimmers notched either a season-best or personal record Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Washington College. However, St. Mary's College (7-3) came up short in a 159-93 loss to the Shorewomen (4-3).
 
How It Happened
  • Sophomore Anna Kidd (Arbutus, Md./Mount de Sales) tallied a season-best time in the 100 breaststroke as Kidd won the event in 1:11.02.
  • Kidd picked up another season-best time in the 200 individual medley, winning it in 2:16.92, while senior captain Bailey Edgren (Canton, Conn./Canton) came in second in 2:31.85 followed by sophomore Julia Milner (Middletown, Md./Middletown) in third in 2:39.32.
  • Kidd collected a third win in the 100 freestyle in 56.27.
  • Edgren recorded a season-best time of 1:14.99 as she placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke.
  • First-year Emma Grimm (Derwood, Md./Magruder) posted a personal-record in the 500 freestyle, finishing fourth in 5:58.79.
  • Senior Leila McCloskey (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) earned a win in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.83 as the Seahawks finished the meet with five wins.
  • The foursome of first-year Gabby DeCrisci (Fredericksburg, Va.), Grimm, junior Jazlyn Benitez (Silver Spring, Md./James H. Blake), and sophomore Lilianna Bowman (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) notched a time of 9:28.17 to take the 800 freestyle relay.
  • Senior captain Rileigh Krell (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point), Kidd, junior Christina Trnkus (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase), and McCloskey joined forces to swim a 1:56.88 and finish second in the 200 medley relay.
  • Trnkus led the Seahawks in the 100 butterfly with a second-place finish in 2:32.20 while Krell went second in the 200 backstroke in 2:21.16.
  • Edgren produced a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke in 2:41.45 to lead St. Mary's College in the event while DeCrisci was fourth in the 1000 freestyle in 12:22.62.
  • Grimm came in fourth in the 200 freestyle in 2:14.81 while McCloskey went fourth in the 50 freestyle in 26.71.
  • Trnkus added a fourth-place finish in the 100 butterfly in 1:08.15.
