Women’s Swimming Defeats Marymount For First Victory of the Season

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swimming team (1-2) hosted the Marymount University Saints (0-1) on Friday (Apr. 2) morning in Atlantic East Conference action. The Seahawks picked up their first victory of the season by defeating the Saints 102-74.

How It Happened
  • St. Mary's College started the meet strong with a victory in the first event. The team of Rileigh Krell, Anna Kidd, Christina Trnkus, and Leila McCloskey swam a time of 4:20.28 in the 400 Yard Medley Relay for the first place finish. The Seahawks kept their winning ways going when Anna LaPoint won the 1,000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:35.66.
  • The Seahawks won their third-straight event with a first place finish from Bailey Edgren in the 200 Yard Freestyle. Edgren recorded a time of 2:14.13. Next, St. Mary's College earned two-straight first place finishes with victories from McCloskey in the 50 Yard Freestyle and Kidd in the 200 Yard IM.
  • Kidd followed up her performance in the 200 Yard IM with a first place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle, swimming a time of 56.63. In event 15, Krell won the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:05.31. LaPoint captured another first place finish when she swam a time of 5:38.70 in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
