FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swim team saw their two-meet win streak snapped Friday night. St. Mary's College (6-3) dropped a 170-88 non-conference decision to host University of Mary Washington (4-2).
The Seahawks captured six of 14 events as sophomore Luke Schwenk (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) led the way with four wins – three individual and as a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay – while first-year
Robert Shively (Potomac, Md./Walt Whitman) added two individual wins.
How It Happened
- The meet began with the 200-medley relay and the Seahawks finished fourth in 1:48.09 behind the efforts of Shively, senior captain Sebastian Ludwig (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman), first-year William Kendrick (Laurel, Md./DeMatha Catholic), and senior captain Anri Cifuentes Robinson (Easton, Md./Easton).
- Shively then went on to win the 1000 freestyle in 10:36.06 followed by Ludwig in second in 10:41.76.
- Senior captain Jack Kennedy (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) paced St. Mary's in the 200 freestyle with a fourth-place finish in 1:57.75 while Cifuentes Robinson came in fifth in 2:00.49.
- Schwenk grabbed his first win in the 50 backstroke in 24.21 while first-year Louie Saucedo (Gaithersburg, Md./Clarksburg) placed fourth in the 50 breaststroke in 35.15.
- Junior Sam Shenot (Upper Marlboro, Md./Leonardtown) claimed a fourth-place finish in the 100 butterfly in 57.57 followed by first-year Tony Lumezi (Towson, Md./Towson) in fifth in 1:08.58.
- Schwenk's second win came in the 50 freestyle as he touched the wall in 21.56 followed by Cifuentes Robinson in fourth in 23.65 and Kendrick in fifth in 24.18.
- Kennedy notched his second fourth-place finish of the afternoon in the 100 freestyle in 52.53 while Kendrick placed fifth in 53.98.
- Lumezi came in fifth in the 100 backstroke in 1:09.29 while Saucedo took fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.47.
- Shively notched his second win in the 500 freestyle, finishing first in 5:06.38, while Ludwig was second in 5:11.00.
- Schwenk then touched the wall in the 50 butterfly, winning the event in 23.50, while Shively placed fourth in the 400 individual medley in 4:41.03 and Ludwig came in fifth in 4:45.71.
- The meet ended with the 200 freestyle relay and the Seahawks won the event in 1:31.34.
