ARLINGTON, Va. – First-years
Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) and
Kelsie Miller (Potomac, Md./Churchill) each won multiple individual events Saturday afternoon (Oct. 28) as the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swim team split a double-dual meet at Marymount (Va.) University.
St. Mary's College (2-3, 0-1 AEC) posted a 198-23 Atlantic East Conference win over Cabrini University (0-2, 0-2 AEC) and dropped a 160-100 decision to Marymount (2-0, 1-0 AEC).
How It Happened
- Young's first victory came in the 100 backstroke as she touched the wall first in 1:02.95. She then captured the 100 freestyle in 55.85.
- Miller claimed top honors in the 200 butterfly with a winning time of 2:17.40 while first-year Kaitlyn Soldon placed third in 2:46.22. Miller also captured the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.30.
- The Seahawks ended the meet by winning the 200-freestyle relay, clocking a 1:45.98 behind the efforts of Young, Miller, sophomore Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), and senior captain Anna Kidd (Arbutus, Md./Mount de Sales).
- The foursome of senior captain Marissa Fields (Leonardtown, Md./Chopticon), Kidd, Miller, and Young notched a second-place finish in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:56.50.
- Kidd picked up a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 2:08.99 while adding another second-place finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:55.63.
- Senior Kate Holland (Rockville, Md./Rockville) paced the Seahawks in the 100 breaststroke with a third-place finish in 1:20.29.
- Senior Julia Milner (Middletown, Md./Middletown) grabbed a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:54.59.
- Senior Katie Stolzenberger (Island Heights, N.J./Allentown), first-year Lilli Pasquinelli, sophomore Bella Ramirez (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook), and Holland earned a third-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay in 1:57.16.
- Judge clocked a 12:47.12 in the 1,000 freestyle for fourth place while Fields came in fourth in the 50 freestyle in 28.35.
- Senior Liliana Bowman (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) was St. Mary's top finisher in the 200 backstroke with a fourth-place finish in 2:35.72.
- Ramirez took fourth in the 200 individual medley in 2:38.49.
