Kidd Shines as St. Mary’s College Women’s Swimming Competes in AEC Double-Dual Meet

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior captain Anna Kidd (Arbutus, Md./Mount de Sales) won three individual events in leading the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swim team Saturday afternoon (Nov. 11) in an Atlantic East Conference double-dual meet. St. Mary's College (4-6, 2-1 AEC) picked up a 160-60 victory over host Gallaudet University (1-6, 0-2 AEC) and dropped a 123-117 decision to Cedar Crest College (4-4, 3-1 AEC).

How It Happened
  • Kidd posted a win in the 200 freestyle in 2:05.00, nearly two seconds ahead of the second-place finisher from Cedar Crest. She then notched a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle in 26.69 by a two-second margin as well. Kidd's last individual win came in the 100 individual medley as she clocked a 1:04.74, just shy of three seconds in front of second place.
  • Senior captain Marissa Fields (Leonardtown, Md./Chopticon) collected a pair of wins to contribute to the Seahawk scoring. Fields led a 1-2 finish in the 50 backstroke as she captured the event in 31.35 and senior Lilianna Bowman (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) came in second in 33.87.
  • Fields also earned a first-place finish in the 50 butterfly with a winning time of 31.75 while sophomore Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) placed second just 14 hundredths of a second later (31.89).
  • The final individual win was registered by first-year Kaitlyn Soldon, who claimed top honors in the 100 butterfly in 1:11.43, before adding third-place finishes in the 1000 freestyle (13:44.80) and 100 backstroke (1:14.90).
  • The foursome of Fields, senior Julia Milner (Middletown, Md./Middletown), Kidd, and sophomore Bella Ramirez (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) ended the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay (1:52.82).
  • Bowman, Milner, sophomore Kate Pass (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck), and Ramirez swam a 2:14.71 to take second in the 200-medley relay.
  • Pass notched a second-place finish in the 50 breaststroke in 38.02 and tallied a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:23.42.
  • Fields went second in the 100 freestyle in 1:01.62 and Judge was third in 1:02.90 while Ramirez staked a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle (6:15.29) and a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:21.15).
  • Two more silver medals were collected in the 100 backstroke in 1:12.04 by Bowman and in the 100 breaststroke in 1:22.41 by Milner.
