St. Mary’s College Men’s Swimming Takes Two at Marywood Quad Meet

SCRANTON, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swim team claimed two victories Saturday afternoon (Jan. 13) in their first competitive action since December 9. St. Mary's College (9-4, 3-0 AEC) took down host Marywood University (4-7, 1-1 AEC), 158-67, and Wilkes University (6-5), 151-69. The Seahawks dropped a 147-106 decision to Misericordia University (5-2).
 
How It Happened
  • Junior captain Luke Schwenk (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) collected a pair of individual wins, capturing the 100 butterfly in 51.73 and swimming a personal-best 2:00.71 to take first in the 200 individual medley.
  • Senior captain Sam Shenot (Upper Marlboro, Md./Leonardtown) claimed top honors in the 100 freestyle in 52.73. This is Shenot's first meet since October 28. Shenot also went fifth in the 50 freestyle in 24.37.
  • First-year Daniel Madigan (Waldorf, Md./North Point) reached the top of the podium with a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke in 2:17.82. Madigan added a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.27.
  • Schwenk and first-years Luca Fairbank (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney), Kyle Smith (Crofton, Md./Crofton), and Anthony Davis (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) won the 400-medley relay in 3:45.27 while sophomore William Kendrick (Laurel, Md./DeMatha Catholic), Madigan, Shenot, and sophomore Tony Lumezi (Towson, Md./Towson) came in third in 3:53.70.
  • Davis picked up a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 1:57.58 while Kendrick notched a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke in 59.57.
  • First-year Kai Ng (Silver Spring, Md./Northwood) tallied a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:07.46.
  • First-year CB Jurado (Odenton, Md./Arundel) led the team in the 1000 freestyle with a third-place finish in 12:07.97 while going fourth in the 500 freestyle in 5:46.24.
  • Lumezi, Jurado, Ng, and Davis joined together for a third-place finish in the 400-freestyle relay in 3:34.10.
  • Kendrick gained a fourth-place finish in the 50 freestyle in 23.89.
