HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swim team closed out the regular season Saturday afternoon (Jan. 27) with two non-conference victories. St. Mary's College (11-6) tallied a 117-70 triumph over William Peace University (3-5) and a 121-82 win over host Hampden-Sydney College (3-4).
How It Happened
- Junior captain Luke Schwenk (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) was the Seahawk leader with two individual wins on the afternoon. Schwenk started with a win in the 50 SC meter freestyle in 23.55 before capturing the 100 SC freestyle in 52.66.
- First-year Kai Ng (Silver Spring, Md./Northwood) picked up a win in the 800 SC meter freestyle in 9:24.35 before adding a second-place finish in the 200 SC meter individual medley in 2:22.75.
- Sophomore Robert Shively (Potomac, Md./Walt Whitman) captured the 400 SC meter freestyle in 4:34.20 while collecting a second-place finish in the 200 SC meter freestyle (2:10.19) and a third-place finish in the 100 SC meter butterfly (1:02.03).
- First-year Daniel Madigan (Waldorf, Md./North Point) claimed a first-place finish in the 100 SC meter breaststroke in 1:12.36.
- Sophomore William Kendrick (Laurel, Md./DeMatha Catholic), first-year Kyle Smith (Crofton, Md./Crofton), senior captain Sam Shenot (Upper Marlboro, Md./Leonardtown), and first-year Anthony Davis (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) touched the wall first in the 200 SC meter medley relay in 1:55.75.
- Davis contributed a second-place finish in the 100 SC meter freestyle in 56.85 while Smith earned a third-place finish in the 200 SC meter individual medley in 2:23.47.
- Kendrick chipped in a third-place finish in the 100 SC meter backstroke in 1:07.73 to lead the Seahawks while first-year CB Jurado (Odenton, Md./Arundel) took third in the 800 SC meter freestyle in 9:53.30.
