St. Mary’s College Women’s Swimming Ends Regular Season with Two Wins

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Four Seahawks collected multiple wins in leading the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swim team to a pair of non-conference wins Saturday afternoon (Jan. 27). St. Mary's College (8-10) posted a 111-68 victory over William Peace University (3-5) as well as a 128-45 triumph over Guilford College (2-7) to wrap up the regular season.
 
How It Happened
  • Sophomore Bella Ramirez (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) paced the Seahawks with two individual wins and one relay victory. Ramirez captured the 800 SC meter freestyle in 11:17.78 before touching the wall first in the 200 SC meter individual medley in 2:53.03, edging William Peace's Sam Autry by 45-hundredths of a second.
  • Senior captain Anna Kidd (Arbutus, Md./Mount de Sales) earned two wins, claiming top honors in the 200 SC freestyle in 2:20.35 and the 100 SC freestyle in 1:03.04.
  • First-year Kelsie Miller (Potomac, Md./Churchill) tallied two triumphs as well, coming in first in the 100 SC meter butterfly in 1:05.67 and leading the 1-2-3 sweep in the 400 SC meter freestyle in 4:46.65.
  • Senior captain Marissa Fields (Clements, Md./Chopticon) notched the final individual win with a first-place finish in the 100 SC meter backstroke in 1:18.12.
  • The foursome of Fields, senior Kate Holland (Rockville, Md./Rockville), sophomore Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), and Ramirez went first in the 200 SC meter medley relay in 2:20.46.
  • Holland led the team in the 50 SC meter freestyle with a second-place finish in 32.23 followed by sophomore Kate Pass (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) in third in 32.75.
  • First-year Kaitlyn Soldon (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) picked up a second-place finish in the 100 SC meter butterfly in 1:21.62 and added a third-place finish in the 200 SC meter freestyle in 2:43.81.
  • Judge and senior Lilianna Bowman (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) were part of the 1-2-3 sweep in the 400 SC meter freestyle as Judge came in second in 5:03.93 and Bowman followed in third in 5:30.42.
  • Junior Emelina Grimm (Rockville, Md./Magruder) recorded a pair of third-place finishes in the 800 SC meter freestyle (11:38.44) and the 100 SC meter backstroke in 1:28.55.
  • Senior Katie Stolzenberger (Island Heights, N.J./Allentown) chipped in a third-place finish in the 200 SC meter individual medley in 3:06.85.
