St. Mary's, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team soared over their matchup against Hood. The Seahawks would win by a final score of 7-0.
How It Happened:
Doubles
- Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) and Michael Shively (Potomac, Md./ Walt Whitman) competed in the No. 1 spot for the Seahawks. Nelson and Shively fell after a 7-4 tiebreak at the 6-6 mark.
- Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) and Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./ Annapolis) dominated their match in the No. 2 spot, 6-0.
- The Seahawks No.3 double tandem featured Jack Hoehn (Middletown, Md./ Saint John's Catholic Prep) and Hudson Christensen (Annapolis, Md./ St. Mary's). Hoehn and Christensen gained the point after having no opponents to matchup against.
Singles
- Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) won in three sets in the No. 1 singles match. Nelson fell in the first set 7-6. Nelson made a comeback for the second set winning 6-4. Nelson won convincingly in the third set, winning the super tiebreak 10-3.
- Michael Shively (Potomac, Md./ Walt Whitman) competed in the No. 2 match, dominating 6-0 in both sets.
- Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) won in the No. 3 match, beating the matchup 6-1 and 6-3.
- Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./ Annapolis) competed in the No. 4 match, winning both sets 6-0.
- Jack Hoehn (Middletown, Md./ Saint John's Catholic Prep) won both sets in the No. 5 match, 6-0, 6-3.
- Devon Gorel (Jessup, Md./ Hammond) concluded the singles matches for the Seahawks in the No. 6 spot. Gorel gained the
