Seahawks Men’s Swimming Begins 2024-25 Campaign

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swimming opened the new season Saturday afternoon (Oct. 19) at Bridgewater (Va.) College. St. Mary's College (0-1) fell 175-86 to the host Eagles (1-0) in the short-course dual meet.
 
How It Happened
  • Senior captain Luke Schwenk (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) was the only Seahawk with multiple event wins as Schwenk captured the 100 backstroke in 58.47 and the 100 freestyle in 53.93.
  • Newcomer Harrison Greenwald won the 200 butterfly in 2:23.82 while taking second in both the 800 freestyle in 9:12.58 and the 400 freestyle in 4:24.03.
  • Schwenk and sophomores Kyle Smith (Crofton, Md./Crofton), Qwada Moses (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic), and Anthony Davis (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) came in second in the 200-medley relay in 1:51.41.
  • Davis earned another second-place finish in the 50 freestyle in 25.13 while placing third in the 100 freestyle in 56.61.
  • The foursome of Schwenk, junior captain William Kendrick (Laurel, Md./DeMatha Catholic), Greenwald, and Davis posted a time of 1:39.52 to notch a second-place finish.
  • Sophomore Daniel Madigan (Waldorf, Md./North Point) picked up a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke in 2:36.71 while going third in the 200 freestyle in 2:13.46.
  • Smith registered a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.61) and the 200 individual medley (2:28.00).
  • Newcomer Stephen Lepine went third in the 800 freestyle while sophomore Luca Fairbank (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) tallied a fourth-place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:42.06.
  • Junior Tony Lumezi (Towson, Md./Towson) came in fourth in the 100 butterfly in 1:11.68 while Moses was fifth in the 50 freestyle in 25.89.
