St. Mary’s College Women’s Swimming Opens Season at Bridgewater (Va.)

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swimming claimed five events in their season-opener at Bridgewater (Va.) College Saturday afternoon (Oct. 19). St. Mary's College (0-1) dropped a 166-92 decision to the host Eagles (1-0) in the short course dual meet.
 
How It Happened
  • Sophomore Kelsie Miller (Potomac, Md./Churchill) picked up two individual wins as Miller captured both the 200 freestyle (2:19.10) and the 200 butterfly (2:36.55).
  • Miller's fellow classmate, Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical), was also a multiple-event winner for the Seahawks as Young took first in both the 100 backstroke (1:10.37) and the 50 freestyle (28.40).
  • Young, first-year Ella Malzahn (Durham, N.C./Jordan), Miller and first-year Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) won the 200-medley relay in 2:10.85.
  • Willey earned a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle in 1:03.17 while leading off the second-place 200 freestyle relay. Willey, Miller, junior Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) and Young clocked a 1:56.59.
  • First-year Lauren Goulet (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) finished third in the 800 freestyle in 10:40.14 while placing fourth in the 200 backstroke in 2:51.30.
  • Judge garnered a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 2:26.02 before taking third in the 400 freestyle in 5:08.12. She was also fourth in the 200 individual medley in 2:44.14.
  • Malzahn added a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:31.84 as well as going third in the 200 breaststroke in 3:15.15.
  • Sophomore Kaitlyn Soldon (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) led the team in the 100 freestyle with a third-place finish in 1:19.53 while Willey earned a fourth-place finish in the 50 freestyle in 29.47.
