ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Sophomore
Kelsie Miller (Potomac, Md./Churchill) won three individual events in leading St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swimming in their home-opener Friday night (Oct. 25). St. Mary's College (0-2) suffered a 188-73 loss to Randolph-Macon College (1-1).
How It Happened
- Miller touched the wall first in the 200 butterfly (2:17.85), the 100 freestyle (55.53), and the 10 butterfly (59.62).
- Sophomore Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) claimed a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.97 while going second in the 50 freestyle in 25.34.
- First-year Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) went second in the 200 freestyle in 2:03.49 while taking third in the 100 freestyle in 57.47 and fourth in the 50 freestyle in 26.00.
- The foursome of Young, Willey, junior captain Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), and Miller clocked a 1:42.79 for second in the 200-freestyle relay.
- Judge added third-place finishes in the 1000 freestyle (11:49.94) and the 500 freestyle (5:48.99) while picking up a fifth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.56.
- First-years Lauren Goulet (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis), Ella Malzahn (Durham, N.C./Jordan), Jesse Slingluff (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill), and Mandy Cartwright (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) went 2:07.06 for fourth in the 200-medley relay.
- Sophomore Kaitlyn Soldon (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) led the Seahawks in the 200 backstroke with a fourth-place finish in 2:30.50.
- Cartwright earned a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 2:13.72 while Malzahn and Slingluff both notched fifth-place finishes in the 200 breaststroke (2:54.58) and the 200 individual medley (2:33.33), respectively.
