St. Mary’s College Men’s Swimming Collects Wins over Randolph and Virginia Wesleyan

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swimming earned their first two wins of the season Saturday afternoon (Oct. 26), capturing eight of 14 events. St. Mary's College (2-2) tallied a 149-109 victory over Randolph College (3-1), handing the Wildcats their first loss of the season, while posting a 165-77 triumph over Virginia Wesleyan University (0-3).
 
Sophomore Daniel Madigan (Waldorf, Md./North Point) led the Seahawks with two individual wins while
junior captain William Kendrick (Laurel, Md./DeMatha Catholic) and sophomore Anthony Davis (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) were part of both winning relays.
 
How It Happened
  • Madigan captured the 100-breaststroke in 1:02.60 before securing top honors in the 200 breaststroke in 2:18.28.
  • The foursome of sophomores Qwada Moses (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) and Kyle Smith (Crofton, Md./Crofton), Davis, and Kendrick posted a time of 1:42.17 to win the 200-medley relay.
  • Kendrick led a 1-2 finish with Moses in the 10- backstroke as Kendrick took first in 59.38 followed by Moses in second in 1:00.20.
  • Davis went first in the 100-freestyle in 49.44 while newcomer Stephen Lepine (Rockville, Md.) claimed top honors in the 500-freestyle in 5:18.03.
  • Rookie Harrison Greenwald (Reisterstown, Md.) led the Seahawks in the 400 individual medley with a first-place finish in 4:24.06.
  • Davis, Madigan, Greenwald, and Kendrick clocked a 1:31.87 for top honors in the 200-freestyle relay.
  • Smith just finished second in the 50-freestyle as Randolph's Ryan Frasier out-touched him by one-hundredths of a second. Smith notched a time of 22.55 while Frasier came in at 22.54.
  • Lepine collected a second-place finish in the 200-freestyle in 1:56.23 as well as a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM in 4:49.51.
  • Greenwald added a second-place finish in the 200-backstroke in 2:09.10.
  • Sophomore CB Jurado (Odenton, Md./Arundel) collected a third-place finish in the 1000-freestyle in 11:27.73 as well as a fourth-place finish in the 500-freestyle in 5:37.02. Jurado also added a fifth-place finish in the 100-freestyle in 52.29.
  • Moses came in third in the 100-butterfly in 59.78 followed by Kendrick in fourth in 1:00.94.
  • Sophomore Luca Fairbank (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) tallied a third-place finish in the 100-breaststroke in 1:04.59 while Smith placed fourth in the 200-breaststroke in 2:27.18.
  • Sophomore Thomas Brown (Clarksburg, Md./Clarksburg) led the Seahawks in the 200-butterfly with a fourth-place finish in 2:47.77 while junior Tony Lumezi (Towson, Md./Towson) took fourth in the 200-freestyle in 2:00.99.
