St. Mary’s College Women’s Swimming Splits Double-Dual Meet

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swimming went 1-1 in their Sunday (Nov. 3) non-conference double-dual meet. St. Mary's College (3-3) picked up a 162-97 victory over Stevenson University (2-2) while dropping a 180-79 decision to Washington College (5-1).
 
How It Happened
  • Sophomore Kelsie Miller (Potomac, Md./Churchill) captured the Seahawks' lone win on the afternoon as Miller touched the wall first in the 200 individual medley in 2:18.01. She also earned second-place finishes in the 100-freestyle in 55.55 and the 50-butterfly in 27.36.
  • SMCM notched a second-place finish in the 400-medley relay in 4:24.55 behind the efforts of Miller, junior captain Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), first-year Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills), and sophomore Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical).
  • Young claimed second in the 50-freestyle in 25.43 while Judge took second in the 500-freestyle in a season-best time of 5:34.97.
  • Willey, first-year Lauren Goulet (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis), Judge, and Young grabbed a second-place finish in the 400-freestyle relay in 3:53.69.
  • Goulet added a third-place finish in the 1000-freestyle with a season-best time of 11:42.79 while Judge came in third in the 200 freestyle with a season-best time of 2:07.52.
  • First-year Ella Malzahn (Durham, N.C./Jordan) placed third in the 100-butterfly in 1:09.94 while earning a fourth-place finish in the 100-breaststroke in 1:21.07 and finishing fifth in the 200 IM in 2:35.22.
  • Willey tallied a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 50-backstroke in 31.03 and the 50-butterfly in 30.32.
  • Sophomore Kaitlyn Soldon (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) went fourth in the 100-butterfly in 1:11.19 while taking fifth in the 100-backstroke in 1:12.57.
  • First-year Mandy Cartwright (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) came in fifth in the 200-freestyle in 2:14.05 while junior Kate Pass (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) led the Seahawks in the 50-breaststroke with a sixth-place finish in 38.66.
