Seahawks Women’s Swimming Begins 2025 with Two Wins

FREDERICK, Md. – St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swimming picked up two non-conference wins in a double-dual meet Saturday afternoon (Jan. 11). St. Mary's College (9-5) posted victories over host Hood College (3-6), 164-89, and McDaniel College (1-11), 187-72, as the Seahawks captured 10 of the 14 events.
 
Sophomore Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) paced SMCM with four wins (two individual, two relay) while junior captain Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), sophomore Kelsie Miller (Potomac, Md./Churchill), and first-year Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) each notched three victories.
 
Judge, Miller, Willey, and Young claimed the 200-medley relay in 1:59.79 while sophomore Kaitlyn Soldon (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) and first-years Ella Malzahn (Durham, N.C./Jordan), Jesse Slingluff (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill), and Isa Bianco (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) placed third in 2:09.86.
 
Young collected a pair of individual wins in the 50-backstroke (29.34) and the 50-freestyle (25.34) while Miller came in first in the 200-freestyle (2:02.35) and the 50-butterfly (27.45). Miller also finished second in the 50-freestyle in 26.08.
 
Judge won the 100-individual medley in 1:08.38 while anchoring the winning 200-freestyle relay alongside Willey, Young, and first-year Lauren Goulet (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis). Judge also finished second in the 500-freestyle in 5:44.80.
 
Willey touched the wall first in the 100-freestyle in 58.40 while coming in third in the 200-freestyle in 2:10.35. Malzahn added victories in the 50-breaststroke (36.77) and the 100-breaststroke (1:19.58).
 
Soldon tallied a second-place finish in the 100-backstroke in 1:10.49 while coming in third in the 100-butterfly in 1:11.79 to lead St. Mary's College in both events. Goulet placed second in the 1000-freestyle in 12:01.62 while taking third in the 100-backstroke in 1:12.97.
 
Junior Kate Pass (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) earned two bronze medals in the 50-breaststroke (37.64) and the 100-breaststroke (1:22.43) while first-year Mandy Cartwright (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) recorded third-place finishes in the 1000-freestyle (12:45.54) and the 100-freestyle (1:00.21).
 
Slingluff added a third-place finish in the 100-individual medley in 1:12.89.
