St. Mary’s College Women’s Swimming Sweeps Double-Dual Meet

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Senior captain Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) and junior Kelsie Miller (Potomac, Md./Churchill) combined for two individual wins and a relay win Saturday afternoon (Oct. 25) as St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swimming notched their first wins of the new season. St. Mary's College (2-1) posted a 136-65 win over host Randolph College (4-1) and a 123-60 victory over Virginia Wesleyan University (1-2).
 
How It Happened
  • Judge captured the 1650 freestyle in 19:55.03 while sophomore Lauren Goulet (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) placed second in 20:52.16.
  • Sophomore Jesse Slingluff (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) notched an individual win in the 400 individual medley in 5:16.56 while first-year Lily Quill (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) came in second in 5:40.64.
  • Miller claimed top honors in the 200-butterfly in 2:18.27 while sophomore Ella Malzahn (Durham, N.C./Jordan) took second in 2:38.13.
  • Junior Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) won the 100-freestyle in 56.33 after finishing second in the 50-freestyle in 25.48.
  • Miller led off the winning 200 freestyle relay and Judge anchored it as the Seahawks clocked a 1:48.56. Goulet and sophomore Mandy Cartwright (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) swam the second and third legs of the relay, respectively.
  • The foursome of Miller, Young, Malzahn and sophomore Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) began the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-medley relay, posting a 1:40.52.
  • Willey touched the wall second in the 200-freestyle in 2:11.14 while Cartwright placed third in 2:12.46.
  • Slingluff picked up a second-place finish in the 200-backstroke in 2:36.40 while Goulet placed second in the 500 freestyle in 5:59.62.
  • Senior Kate Pass (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) paced the team in the 200-breaststroke with a second-place finish in 2:53.55 while junior Natalie Canham (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) placed third in 2:53.94.
