Seahawks Men’s Swimming Opens Atlantic East Action

SMCM Falls at Mary Washington Friday Night

ARLINGTON, Va. – St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swimming took on University of Mary Washington Friday night (Nov. 14) before taking on host Marymount (Va.) University and Gallaudet University Saturday (Nov. 15) in their first Atlantic East Conference meet of the season.
 
St. Mary's College (6-4) dropped a 179-83 decision at Mary Washington (4-1) Friday night and then suffered a 194-67 loss at Marymount (4-2, 4-0 AEC) before rebounding with a 219-24 win over Gallaudet University (0-6, 0-3 AEC).
 
Junior Daniel Madigan (Waldorf, Md./North Point) and first-year Seth Geasey (Myersville, Md./Middletown) each won at Mary Washington while Madigan was the lone winner at Marymount.

How It Happened
  • Geasey captured the 500-freestyle in 4:56.01.
  • Madigan won the 200-individual medley in 1:59.49 while taking second in the 100-breaststroke in 59.42.
  • Sophomore Harrison Greenwald (Eldersburg, Md./Century) came in second in the 400-individual medley in 4:25.47 while junior Luca Fairbank (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) placed second in the 50-breaststroke in 28.09.
  • Junior Anthony Davis (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) finished second in the 100-butterfly in 53.26 while fellow classmate Kyle Smith (Crofton, Md./Crofton) followed in third in 55.00.
  • Senior captain William Kendrick (Laurel, Md./DeMatha Catholic) notched a second-place finish in the 50-freestyle in 21.96 before placing third in the 100-freestyle in 49.59.
  • The foursome of Kendrick, Smith, first-year Brendan Mannion (West Chester, Pa./Unionville), and Davis took second in the 200-freestyle relay in 1:28.40.
  • Kendrick, Fairbank, Davis and Smith put forth a third-place effort in the 200-medley relay in 1:38.52.
  • Mannion earned a third-place finish in the 200-freestyle in 1:49.49 while first-year JB Bonner (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) was third in the 100-backstroke in 58.13.
  • Fairbank added a third-place finish in the 100-breaststroke in 1:01.73 while Davis went third in the 50-butterfly in 23.85.
  • First-year Harry Brooks (Centreville, Va./Westfield) tallied a fourth-place finish in the 50-backstroke in 27.45.

  • Madigan collected the Seahawks' lone win by touching the wall first in the 200-breaststroke in 2:13.52 after finishing second in the 100-breaststroke in 1:01.77. He also placed third in the 200-individual medley in 2:07.98.
  • Davis came in second in the 50-freestyle in 22.34 while taking fourth in the 100-butterfly in 55.36.
  • Greenwald placed second in the 500-freestyle in 5:03.81 after finishing third in the 200-freestyle in 1:49.06.
  • The foursome of Greenwald, Mannion, Smith, and Davis went second in the 200-freestyle relay in 1:31.04.
  • Bonner, Fairbank, Davis and Mannion posted a third-place finish in the 200-medley relay in 1:42.66.
  • Geasey placed third in the 1000-freestyle in 10:56.98 while Fairbank came in third in the 100-breaststroke in 1:04.65.
  • Mannion led the team in the 100-freestyle with a third-place finish in 49.22 while Bonner was fourth in the 100-backstroke in 59.13.
  • Smith finished fourth in the 200-butterfly in 2:11.44 while Brooks was fourth in the 200-backstroke in 2:12.33.
