Landisville, Pa. – The #2 seeded St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team 2024-2025 season has concluded in the United East Conference championship match against #1 seeded Penn State Harrisburg hosted at the Hempfield recCenter. The Seahawks fell to the Lions 4-0, as the championship tournament requires only the first team to reach four points to win.
The Seahawks finish the season with an 11-6 record and a 6-1 record in conference play.
Elite 20 Award-
Devon Gorel has won the Elite 20 Award that honours the student-athlete with the highest GPA among those competing in the conference championship for the third year in a row.
How It Happened:
Doubles
- Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) and Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./ Annapolis) fell in the No. 2 doubles duo 6-1 to the Lions.
- Nick Rohr (Fairfax County, Va./ James W. Robinson) and Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./ Sherwood) dropped in the No. 1 doubles match for the Seahawks. Rohr and Nelson fell 6-1, giving the Lions the doubles point.
Singles
- Nick Rohr (Fairfax County, Va./ James W. Robinson) lost the match in two sets in the No. 1 spot, falling 6-0, 6-3 for the first singles Seahawks loss.
- Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./ Annapolis) dropped the No. 5 match in two sets 6-4, 6-1 to the Lions.
- Andrew Hand (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) fell in the No. 4 singles match in two sets 6-1, 6-3, dropping the fourth point in order of finish to the Lions.
