SMCM Men’s Swimming Wraps Up Conference Schedule on Senior Day

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – A trio of Seahawks each notched three wins as St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swimming concluded the Atlantic East Conference regular season Saturday afternoon (Jan. 17) with a dominant win. St. Mary's College (10-4, 3-1 AEC) posted a 219-20 victory over Immaculata University (3-4, 1-3 AEC) to make it a memorable Senior Day.
 
Prior to the start of the meet, the Seahawks recognized their three seniors – student assistant Jair Jackson (Laurel, Md./Chapelgate Christian) and team captains captain Will Kendrick (Laurel, Md./DeMatha Catholic) and Tony Lumezi (Towson, Md./Towson) – for their years of dedication and leadership to the program.
 
How It Happened
  • SMCM captured all 14 events while posting a 1-2-3 sweep in nine events (1000-freestyle, 200-freestyle, 100-breaststroke, 200-butterfly, 50-freestyle, 100-freestyle, 200-breaststroke, 500-freestyle, and 200-individual medley).
  • Sophomore Harrison Greenwald (Eldersburg, Md./Century) led the way with three individual event wins. Greenwald picked up back-to-back victories in the 1000-freestyle (10:31.50) and 200-freestyle (1:48.95) before winning the 500-freestyle in 5:02.86.
  • Junior Luca Fairbank (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) notched two individual wins in the 100-breaststroke (1:02.28) and the 200-breaststroke (2:18.20).
  • The foursome of first-year Justin Bonner (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area), Fairbank, and juniors Kyle Smith (Crofton, Md./Crofton) and Anthony Davis (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) came together for a win in the 200-medley relay in 1:42.30.
  • Davis captured the 100-butterfly in 56.16 while taking second in the 100-breaststroke in 1:02.43.
  • Davis, junior Daniel Madigan (Waldorf, Md./North Point), first-year Brendan Mannion (West Chester, Pa./Unionville), and Kendrick clocked a 1:31.47 to win the 200-freestyle relay.
  • Kendrick touched the wall first in the 50-freestyle in 22.68 while going third in the 100-breaststroke (1:02.94) and the 200-individual medley (2:12.26).
  • Madigan touched the wall first in the 100-freestyle in 50.76 while coming in third in the 200-freestyle in 1:55.12.
  • Smith won the 200-butterfly in 2:12.26 before placing second in the 200-individual medley in 2:09.18.
  • Bonner claimed top honors in the 200-backstroke in 2:09.61 while finishing second in the 100-backstroke (59.27) and the 100-butterfly (57.10).
  • Mannion collected a first-place finish in the 200-individual medley in 2:03.55.
  • First-year Harry Brooks (Centreville, Va./Westfield) tallied a first-place finish in the 100-backstroke in 59.14 while taking second in the 200-backstroke (2:09.69) and third in the 500-freestyle (5:31.83).
  • In his final regular-season home meet, Lumezi notched a second-place finish in the 50-freestyle (23.83) and third place in the 100-freestyle (53.17).
