ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Interim Head Coach
Eric Heisler '00 made his debut Sunday afternoon (Mar. 1) as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team began the spring portion of their 2025-26 season. St. Mary's College (1-2) notched a 6-1 non-conference win over York College of Pennsylvania (1-5) for Heisler's his first career win as the Seahawks head men's tennis coach.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- The Seahawks claimed all three doubles matches to head into singles action with a 1-0 lead.
- SMCM tallied a pair of 6-3 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles while sophomores Alex Lyman (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and Jacob Nelson (Olney, Md./Sherwood) needed a tiebreaker for a 7-6 (5) triumph over Parker Smith and Jason Lutz at No. 1 doubles.
SINGLES
- St. Mary's College went up 4-0 with wins at No. 1, 2, and 3 singles.
- York's lone point came at No. 5 singles where first-year Nate Willoughby (Edgewater, Md./South River) fell 1-6, 4-6 to Chase Fronczkiewicz.
- Lyman and sophomore Dylan Courtney (Chaptico, Md./Chopticon) wrapped the Seahawk win with victories at No. 4 and 6 singles. Both needed tiebreakers to clinch their wins as Lyman won 6-3, 7-6 (8) at fourth singles and Courtney notched a 6-4, 7-6 (8) at No. 6 singles.
