St. Mary's City, Md. – Junior catcher Matt Bieler (Bowie, Md./Bowie) battled for  St. Mary's College of Maryland baseball, tallying three hits, including a triple, and driving in two runs against the Wesley College Wolverines. The Seahawks would fall to Wesley, 8-3, at home on Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • With a three-run rally in the fourth and a two-run rally in the fifth propelling Wesley, the Wolverines would take a 6-0 lead over St. Mary's at the end of five innings.
  • The Seahawks would rally in the eighth inning as sophomore shortstop Brandon Snow (Owings, Md./Northern) would single to centerfield, advancing sophomore right fielder Dakota Merritt (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) to home plate. Bieler would then bring in a pair of runs with a single to centerfield, scoring Snow and sophomore pinch hitter Bennett Garner (Bowie, Md./Bowie).

  • Hitting: Bieler (3-for-4, 2 RBI, triple); Dan McCann (2-for-4, stolen base); Merritt (2-for-4, run)
  • Pitching: Nick Raimondo (L, 0-2) (3.1 IP, 4 runs, 5 strikeouts, 2 hits, 6 walks); Jimmy Robey (3.2 IP, 2 runs (1 earned), 1 strikeout, 5 hits, 1 walk); Tim Hand (1.0 IP, 2 runs, 2 hits, 1 walk); Joshua Loftus (1.0 IP, 1 walk)
