Caleb Shankle '22 joined the St. Mary's College cross country and track & field coaching staff in August 2022 following a solid career as a Seahawk.
Shankle spent one season on the cross country team (2021), posting a 5K personal-best time of 20:49.5 at the Towson University Invitational and an 8K personal record of 32:36.8 at the Lehigh University Paul Short Run. In the inaugural indoor track & field season (2022), the Gaithersburg, Md., native set personal-best times in 800m (2:36.97), mile (5:31.46), 3,000m (10:49.70), and 5,000m (18:46.96).
In two seasons on the outdoor track & field team, Shankle picked up personal records in the 800m (2:31.73), 1,500m (4:54.31), 5,000m (18:18.33), and 10,000m (38:24.63). He left the outdoor program as the record holder in the 10,000m with his time of 38:24.63 set at the Goucher College Blue & Gold Classic on April 15, 2022.
As a student, he served as an orientation leader, admission coordinator, and SafeRide manager.
Shankle graduated from St. Mary's College in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in computer science and minors in educational studies and history. During the day, he works in the St. Mary's Admission Department as an admission counselor.
