Men’s and Women’s Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team, Six Players Earn Scholar-Athlete Accolades

TEMPE, Ariz. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's and women's tennis teams have been named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team, the association announced today. Additionally, six total players from the 2018-19 men's and women's rosters were selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes. Jacob Bartholow, Jon Gorel, Liam Murdoch, Sam Sheats, Claire Bodine, and Hallie Hershey all garnered Scholar-Athlete honors.

"I am extremely proud to have both our men's and women's squads honored as an ITA All-Academic Team," stated head men's and women's tennis coach, Greg Shedd. "Our student-athletes set the bar high for themselves and work extremely hard in the classroom and on the court. It's excellent to see them honored for their commitment to academic success."

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or above. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, a player had to be a varsity letter winner, post a 3.50 GPA or better and be enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters.
