St. Mary’s College of Maryland Appoints Allison Shane as Assistant Varsity Sailing Coach

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - St. Mary's College of Maryland is pleased to announce the appointment of Allison Shane as assistant varsity sailing coach. Shane grew up sailing in Duxbury, Massachusetts, and taught at Duxbury Yacht Club and Duxbury Bay Maritime School (DBMS) for several summers. She graduated from St. Mary's College in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in public policy and competed on the varsity sailing team for all four years.

Shane helped lead the Seahawks to a second-place finish at the team race national championships, received Academic All-American honors in 2015 and was selected to All-MAISA honors. She was an active member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) from 2012 – 2015.  

Director of Sailing Bill Ward couldn't be more excited to have Allison working with the Seahawks, "Al was such a heady player as an undergraduate--she studied the game and will undoubtedly improve the students' experience and performance."  

Prior to her return to intercollegiate athletics at her alma mater, Shane worked at Allianz Asset Management as an international benefits specialist. Shane is looking forward to returning to the county and getting back on the water. She states, "I am excited to share my experiences with the student athletes and also encourage college hopefuls to come to St. Mary's College."
