Women’s Lacrosse Breaks into IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll

GRAND LAKE, Colo. - St. Mary's' College of Maryland women's lacrosse broke into the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Coaches Poll this week, coming in as the 25th ranked team in NCAA Division III. The Seahawks make their first appearance in the top 25 this season and were last ranked on Mar. 19, 2018.

The Seahawks are currently 4-3 on the season with victories over McDaniel, Marymount, Kean, and Rowan. Last week, the Seahawks defeated Rowan 18-17, who was previously ranked 23rd in the IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll. Senior attacker Ali Collie scored with 13 seconds left in regulation for the Seahawks first victory over a ranked opponent this season.

This past Saturday (Mar. 16), the Seahawks nearly pulled off the upset over No. 3 Washington & Lee, falling to the Generals 14-13 in Lexington, Virginia. Caitlin Katchmar led the Seahawks on the offensive end with five points from three goals and two assists in the game.

St. Mary's College will be back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 20) when they host Randolph-Macon at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium. Opening draw is set for 4:30 p.m.
