Seahawks Drop CAC Contest at York

YORK, Pa. - The St. Mary's College women's soccer team (2-8, 0-2 CAC) lost in a battle against York College (4-7, 1-1 CAC) this evening. This was the final match of a four-game away stretch for the Seahawks.

How it Happened

  • The first goal of the match was scored by the Spartans in the eleventh minute. The Seahawks held the Spartans scoreless for the remainder of the half. St. Mary's College was able to get off three shots in the first half but could not find the back of the net. 

  • In the 65th minute, York scored off of a scramble inside the box which was just out of goalkeeper Audra Haines' reach, making the score 2-0. Again, the Seahawks held their opponent to one goal in the half. During the second half, St. Mary's College was able to fire off six shots which, matched York's amount. These additional six shots brought the Seahawks' shot total to nine.

  • Alecia Rotunno was the major attacking threat for the Seahawks this evening, tallying three shots. Megan Tazza fired off two shots, while Ines Garofolo, Laren Giron, Ashley Yurich, and Emmey German all shot once. In goal, Haines had a total of four saves. 

Inside the Box Score

  • Haines now has 39 saves thus far into the season and a save percentage of 66%. 

  • German still holds the spot for most shots in the 2019 season with 12 total so far. Tazza and Rotunno share the second place spot with nine shots so far this season.
