St. Mary’s College Falls to Salisbury in Second Matchup of the Season

SALISBURY, Md. - The St. Mary's College women's soccer team (3-12, 1-6 CAC) traveled to Salisbury University this afternoon (Oct. 19) to take on the Sea Gulls (11-2, 7-0 CAC) in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Seahawks fell to the Sea Gulls 4-0 in the second matchup of the year.

How it Happened

  • In the ninth minute of the match, the Sea Gulls found the back of the net to take the early lead. Next, the Sea Gulls extended their lead to two goals in the 15th minute. 

  • Later in the second half, during the 18th and 20th minutes of the game, Salisbury scored their final two goals of the match. The Seahawk defense held a great level of composure facing 15 total shots in the first half. Seahawks goalkeeper, Audra Haines had a total of five saves in the first 45 minutes of the game. 

  • The Seahawks were able to keep the Sea Gulls at bay by keeping their scoring attempts unsuccessful for the entirety of the second half. Defender Gabby Manning was able to get two shots off this afternoon, and forward Erin Moran had one shot. Two more saves in the second half put Haines at a total of seven saves from the match.

  • Haines' seven saves this afternoon puts her at 76 for her season total thus far. Moran now has five shots this season and Manning is now second on the team with a total of nine.
