Taylor Opens Up Year with Top 5 Finish

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's cross country team opened up their 2019 season with a fifth place finish at the UMW Opener. 

 The Basics

  • Place – 4th of 5/87 points

  • Location – Clift Farms – Fredericksburg, Va.

 St. Mary's Top 5 Finishers

  • Junior Kara Taylor came in fifth overall out of forty-six runners with a time of 15:53.85.

  • Senior Marie Lewis started her final season off finishing second out of all the Seahawk runners with a time of 17:30.10. 

  • Grace Dillingham was the top first year to finish for the Seahawks and was the third overall coming in at 17:53.01.

  • Melody Raymond ran a 18:42.42 to finish fourth for St. Mary's College of Maryland and thirty-eighth overall. 

  • The fifth Seahawk to finish was Amy Forsbacka as she ran a 18:52.46. 

 Other Race Highlights

  • Southern Virginia would win the meet with a score of 31 and had the top overall runner in Sophie Dryden as she came in at 15:10.76
