St. Mary's City, Md. - Neither St. Mary's
College of Maryland nor the University of Mary Washington could
find the back of the net in 110 minutes of action in Capital
Athletic Conference women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon.
The teams played 90 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute
overtime periods but neither squad could capitalize despite
numerous chances at both ends of the field.
St. Mary's (4-7-1, 2-1-1 CAC) held the edge on both shots
(15-12) and corner kicks (7-4).
The Seahawks' junior Marie Oben (Glenn Dale,
Md./St. Mary's-Annapolis) made five saves in picking up her first
shutout.
Junior Laura McCarthy (Glen Rock,
N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) had 10 stops in the loss for Mary
Washington (6-3-2, 3-1-1 CAC).
The Seahawks will return to action this Saturday when St. Mary's
travels to York, Pennsylvania to take on CAC foe, York College, at
noon. Mary Washington will face No. 23 Salisbury University
on Saturday at 1:00 in Salisbury, Md.
