McCann Takes Wesley Past SMCM

Box Score

St. Mary's City, Md. - Senior midfielder Brian McCann (Franklinville, N.J./Delsea) netted what proved to be the game-winner just two minutes into the second half, giving the Wesley College men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over St. Mary's College of Maryland in Capital Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon.

McCann scored his first goal of 2007 at 47:13 when he shot the ball from the right side of the box into the left side of the goal.

St. Mary's (2-4, 1-1 CAC) out-shot the Wolverines (3-4, 2-0 CAC) 14-6 but freshman Nick Talarico (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./Pinelands) was a wall for Wesley and turned away all of the Seahawks' five shots on goal.

Senior Rick Besore (Upper Marlboro, Md./DeMatha Catholic) had one stop in the loss.

The Hawks will return to action on Wednesday, September 19 when St. Mary's travels to Fredericksburg, Va. to take on Capital Athletic Conference foe, the University of Mary Washington, at 4:00.
