Box Score

St. Mary's City, Md. - Senior forward Ali Femi (Easton, Md./Easton) found the back of the cage twice in leading the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team to a 3-0 shutout of Catholic University in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.

The St. Mary's (5-1) win halted the Cardinals' win streak against the Hawks at four.  Catholic (1-5) now holds a 14-4 advantage in the series history.

Femi started scoring at 23:18 as she put back her own rebound into the far right corner for her fifth goal of 2007.  The Seahawks took a 1-0 advantage into halftime.

Femi notched her second goal just 2:33 into the second half when she controlled a deflection off a Catholic defender's stick and fired it into the lower left corner.

Freshman Allie Skiest (Arnold, Md./Seton Keough) tallied the Hawks' final goal with 1:20 remaining in the game as Skiest pushed in the loose ball amidst a scramble on the goal line.

St. Mary's out-shot the Cardinals, 16-10, while penalty corners were even at 9 apiece.

Senior Emily Richards (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) improved to 5-1 in the goal and recorded her second shutout of the season with four saves.  Sophomore Marian Cassilly (Gambrills, Md./Spalding) made eight stops in the loss, while sophomore Julie Ehrmann (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) registered a pair of defensive saves.

The Seahawks will return to action on Saturday, September 22 when SMCM travels to Virginia to face No. 18 Lynchburg College at 2:00 in non-conference action.  Catholic will travel to Westminster, Md. to square off against McDaniel College on Sunday at 1:00.
