Seahawks Double Up on Gallaudet

St. Mary's City, Md. - With their 82-41 victory over Gallaudet University Saturday afternoon, the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team is on its longest win streak of the season having won its fifth consecutive contest.  The Seahawks are 8-2 in their last 10 games, including five straight Capital Athletic Conference wins.

St. Mary's (17-7, 10-5 CAC) remains third in the CAC standings with one game left in the regular-season against Wesley College who is currently fifth in the standings with a 7-6 league mark and still has three games to play.

Prior to the start of the game, the Seahawks recognized their senior two seniors, forward Lisa Daciek (Laurel, Md./Atholton) and guard Megan Uglik (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore).  During their tenure, St. Mary's has posted a 54-46 overall record and a 30-27 CAC mark.

Sophomore guard Stephanie Saint-Aubin (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) led all players with 23 points and was one steal short of a double-double as Saint-Aubin picked a career-high nine pockets.  Junior forward Allie Scott (Laurel, Md./Atholton) also netted more than 20 points as Scott poured in 22 points and matched her season-high with seven assists.

As a team, the Seahawks shot 49.3% from the floor, including going 5-of-14 from downtown as freshman guard Megan Seeman (Frederick, Md./Linganore) connected on three of those for a season-high nine points.  SMCM owned a 38-16 halftime score.

St. Mary's defense played well this afternoon as the Bison (3-19, 0-15 CAC) committed 33 turnovers and the Seahawks had 19 steals.

Freshman center Tiara Hurte (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) contributed 13 points, eight caroms, and a season-high two blocks off the bench for SMCM, while Daciek had a season-best five steals and five boards.

Gallaudet did post a 38-33 rebounding advantage behind sophomore Brittainy Payne's (Pine Hill, N.J./New Jersey School for the Deaf) game-high 12 rebounds.  Payne finished with a double-double as she had a team-high 19.  Freshman Nukeitra Hayes (Anderson, Ind./Indiana School for the Deaf) was also in double digits for the Bison with 12 and six boards.

The Seahawks have a few days off before taking on Wesley College on the road next Saturday, February 23 at 2:00 in regular-season finale for St. Mary's.
