Dover, Del. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team rebounded from Tuesday's overtime loss with a 2-1 Capital Athletic Conference victory over the host Wesley College Wolverines Saturday afternoon behind goals from sophomores Katie Cox (Frederick, Md./Linganore) and Allie Skiest (Arnold, Md./Seton Keough).

Cox put the Seahawks (3-2, 2-1 CAC) on the board first at 8:11 with her first tally of the season as Cox completed a feed from senior captain Emily Smithson (Richmond, Va./James River).

Wesley (4-3, 0-1 CAC) responded less than two minutes later as freshman Sheree Pleasanton (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) notched her fourth goal of 2008 at 9:57 unassisted.

Skiest gave St. Mary's the win five minutes before halftime as she tallied an unassisted goal for her first score of the season.

In the second half, both teams combined for 13 shots and the Wolverines were awarded five penalty corners but neither team was able to make anything stick and the final remained the same as the first half score.

The Seahawks outshot Wesley, 16-10, while WC held an 11-5 advantage on corners.

Sophomore Emma Lauhoff (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) recorded six saves in the victory, while sophomore Sarah Johnson (Honeybrook, Pa./Twin Valley) picked up five stops in the Wolverine loss.

The Seahawks will be back in action next Wednesday, September 17 when St. Mary's travels to Fredericksburg, Va. for another CAC tilt against the University of Mary Washington at 4:00.
