St. Mary's City, Md. - The St. Mary's College
of Maryland volleyball team notched a pair of non-conference wins
over Rowan University and Goucher College Saturday afternoon to own
a four-match win streak.

The Seahawks (5-1) started their morning with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-11,
25-18) sweep of the 2007 New Jersey Athletic Conference Runner-Up,
Rowan University. Junior middle blocker Jen
Lamar (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) boasted an
impressive .529 in the match as Lamar registered 10 kills in 17
attempts with only one error. Lamar also recorded five block
assists, while junior outside hitter Katie Ewing
(Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) added three block assists.
Sophomore outside hitter Katie Obal (Olney,
Md./Sherwood) picked up 11 digs and chipped in four kills.
Rowan (3-4) was paced by sophomore libero Casey
Roselle (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) who put up 19 digs, while
senior captain Alexis Louie (Sewell,
N.J./Washington Twp.) added 11 digs and five kills.

Score
St. Mary's then handed Goucher a 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-22)
setback to cap off the afternoon. Ewing collected 10 kills
for a .714 hitting percentage, while sophomore outside hitter
Claire Kodan (Olney, Md./Sherwood) contributed
eight kills. Kodan also had 14 digs, while sophomore setter
Jenn Feldmann (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial)
dished out 19 assists.
The Gophers (1-5) were led by junior captain Megan
Smith's (Honolulu, Hawaii) nine kills, while sophomore
outside hitter Kasey Quinn (Ellicott City,
Md./Centennial) had eight. Sophomore libero Rebecca
Schaefer (River Edge, N.J./River Dell) came up with 10
digs to pace Goucher defensively.
The Seahawks will return to action this Tuesday, September 9
when St. Mary's hosts York (Pa.) College at 7:00 in the Capital
Athletic Conference opener for both squads.
