Virginia Beach, Va. - Back-to-back double-doubles from junior outside hitter Claire Kodan (Olney, Md./Sherwood) led the St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team to a 2-0 mark at Saturday's tri-match hosted by Virginia Wesleyan College as the Seahawks snapped their two-match losing streak.

St. Mary's (13-9) opened up Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Eastern Mennonite University (10-14) as the Seahawks overcame a 25-23 first set loss and claimed 25-23, 25-11, and 25-21 victories in the subsequent sets.

Kodan registered her first double-double of the day with 13 kills and 11 digs as she was the only Seahawk to notch double-digit kills.  She also equaled her career-high with five service aces.  Junior setter Katie Obal (Olney, Md./Sherwood) dished out 37 assists with three digs, one ace, and one block solo.

Senior middle blocker Jen Lamar (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) commanded the team's 11.0 total blocks as Lamar recorded three block solos and five block assists, while adding eight kills.

In their second match of the day, the Seahawks posted a four-set win over host Virginia Wesleyan (21-5), snapping the Marlins' six-match win streak.  St. Mary's started off strong with two straight set victories, 25-23 and 25-20 before VWC responded with a 25-20 win in the third set to avoid the sweep.  The Seahawks easily handled the Marlins, 25-13, in the fourth for the match.

Gregorini slammed home 11 kills along with four digs, two service aces, and two block assists to pace the Seahawks, while Kodan added her second double-double of the day on 10 kills and 14 digs.  Kodan picked up one ace, one block solo and five block assists as well.
