St. Mary's City, Md. – The St.
Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team sandwiched a 3-0
loss to future Capital Athletic Conference member, Frostburg State
University, with victories over conference foe, Stevenson
University (3-2), and Neumann College (3-0) as the Seahawks (16-10,
4-3 CAC) hosted a quad match Saturday afternoon.

Junior outside hitter Claire Kodan
(Olney, Md./Sherwood) and sophomore middle blocker Gena Hlavinka (Gaithersburg, Md./T.S. Wootton) combined for 27
kills in leading St. Mary's to its fourth consecutive victory
– a 3-2 league win over Stevenson in its first match of the
day.
St. Mary's staked a 2-0 lead behind scores of 25-20 and
25-14 before Stevenson (12-18, 2-5 CAC) rebounded with 25-20 and
27-25 wins in the next two sets. The Seahawks outlasted
Stevenson in the fifth, 15-13, as four Seahawks contributed two
kills while freshman outside hitter Jenn Rindone
(Crofton, Md./Spalding) notched the match-winning kill off an
assist from junior setter Katie Obal (Olney,
Md./Sherwood).
Defensively, seniors Sarah Gregorini (Ellicott
City, Md./Centennial) and Allyssa Blackburn
(Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) paced a group of five Seahawks
with double-digit digs. Blackburn grabbed a
career-high 22 digs while Gregorini added
20.
Frostburg
St. 3, St. Mary's 0
Frostburg State, the two-time defending Allegheny
Mountain Collegiate Conference, handed the Seahawks their first
loss in six tries as the Bobcats (25-4) swept the host, 25-13,
25-17, 25-13. Outside hitters Sarah Stephens
(Oakland, Md.) and Brooke Winterling (Glenelg,
Md.) each slammed 15 kills to lead Frostburg in the win while
Stephens contributed 10 digs as well.

Mary's 3, Neumann 0
The Seahawks rebounded with a 26-24, 25-19, 25-12
sweep of Neumann (10-21) to end the day on a high note.
Hlavinka was the only St. Mary's player in
double figures with 12 kills while Gregorini
nabbed 10 digs and Obal dished out 24 assists.
The Seahawks will return to action this coming Wednesday,
October 28 as St. Mary's travels to Salisbury University to
take on the two-time defending CAC champion in the league finale
for both squads. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
