St. Mary's City, Md. - Sophomore midfielder Morgan Jones (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy) scored twice in the first half in propelling the University of Mary Washington field hockey team to a 3-1 victory over St. Mary's College of Maryland in Capital Athletic Conference action Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman midfielder Florence George (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) provided UMW with a three-goal cushion at 44:03 as George one-timed a pass from junior midfielder Jackie Tait (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford).

St. Mary's (2-3, 1-3 CAC) avoided the shutout as junior midfielder Allie Skiest (Arnold, Md./Seton Keough) sent in a hard shot from outside the circle and freshman forward Ellen Hackstaff (Denver, Colo.) deflected it off the goalie's pads at 63:21.

In her first collegiate start, Wall made five saves and yielded three goals.
