St. Mary's City, Md. - The St. Mary's College
of Maryland field hockey team halted its losing streak at two games
as the Seahawks posted a 2-1 non-conference victory over
Randolph-Macon College Sunday afternoon.
This is St. Mary's (3-3) third straight win against the Yellow
Jackets (0-7), who are left still chasing their first win of the
season. The Seahawks now own a 6-3 advantage in the series
history that began on October 4, 1994.
St. Mary's went up on the scoreboard first as junior midfielder
Allie Skiest (Arnold, Md./Seton Keough) sent in a
cross to the right post where junior forward Jackie
Ward (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) put it in at 10:13 for her
first tally of the season.
Just shy of four minutes later, junior midfielder Monica
Jenkins (Culpepper, Va./Culpepper) redirected the rebound
off the pads of sophomore Caitlin Cromer
(Halethorpe, Md./Seton Keough) to knot the contest at 1-1.
The game remained tied through halftime.
With the game looking on the verge of going into overtime,
freshman forward Lauriann Parker (Woodbine,
Md./Glenelg) notched her second tally of the season as
Parker fired in a shot towards the far left corner
and the ball deflected off a defender's stick with 12:24 remaining
in regulation.
The Seahawks held on for the win as St. Mary's defense cut short
R-MC's late rally.
Cromer picked up her second career start,
giving up one goal and making one stop in 19:01. Junior
Emma Lauhoff (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) finished out the
game for the Seahawks with three saves.

one goal with no saves in 14:04. Junior Kortney
McLaughlin (New Castle, Del./William Penn) came in relief,
yielding one goal with three stops.
