Box Score

St. Mary's City, Md. - The three-time defending Capital Athletic Conference champions, University of Mary Washington, had three players in double figures en route to a 63-51 CAC victory over the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team Wednesday night.

Sophomore guard Katie Wimmer (Vienna, Va./James Madison) paced the Eagles (10-3, 5-0 CAC) with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting and team-best seven rebounds while freshmen Carol Dye (Springfield, Va./Annandale) and Kate Vennergrund (Centreville, Va./Centreville) each tallied 10 points.

St. Mary's (2-11, 1-4 CAC) largest lead of the game, 10-6, came at 14:36 of the first half behind four points from junior guard Megan Seeman (Frederick, Md./Linganore).  Mary Washington solidified its control of the half with a 13-7 run, stretching their lead to nine three times before freshman guard Pui Sham's (Springfield, Va./W. Springfield) three-pointer as time expired to cut the Seahawk deficit to 32-26 at halftime.

Junior forward Jamie Robert (Rockville, Md./Barrie) led the Seahawks with 16 points as Roberts was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.  Seeman finished with nine while senior guard Stephanie Saint-Aubin (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) grabbed a game-high 13 boards.  Freshman forward Taylor Petrisko (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) chipped in season-highs of seven points and seven caroms.

Momentum remained in the Eagles' favor in the second half as the visitors bolstered their lead to double figures throughout the remainder of the contest.  Mary Washington's defense, which ranks third in Division III in scoring defense, held the Seahawks to just 25.0% shooting from the floor in the final 20 minutes, including 1-of-8 from downtown.

The Seahawks will return to action this Saturday, January 16 as St. Mary's welcomes Gallaudet University to the Athletics & Recreation Center Arena for a league tilt at 2:00 pm.
